Oregon Vital Records: Order a Certified Copy
Vital records are the legal records documenting a vital event, such as a birth, death, marriage, Oregon Registered Domestic Partnership, divorce, or fetal death. Birth certificates are the primary documents used to establish identity. The Center for Health Statistics has birth and death records dating from 1903, marriage records from 1906, and divorce certificates (not decrees) from 1925.

These are legal records documenting a vital event. Certified copies of vital records are required to get social security benefits, a driver’s license, passport, and other legal documents.

The Vital Records Office of the Oregon Center for Health Statistics maintains and issues copies of marriage certificates for the state. The requester must be one of the parties named on the certificate, an immediate family member, a legal guardian, legal representative of any of the named parties, or an authorized government agency.
